Audition Information and Description

All students interested in performing with Concert Band or any large performance ensemble at the Conservatory, must participate in the Conservatory Ensemble Auditions in the fall of each academic year. These auditions are held on the Thursday and Friday prior to the first day of class. Excerpts are posted online during the summer, auditions are "blind" (behind a screen), and students will sign-up for their audition time with the Audition Proctor on Thursday morning.

If you have questions, contact Emily Threinen at ethreine@su.edu

The Concert Band at Shenandoah Conservatory has been reinstated, Fall 2009. Performing several formal concerts each academic year, the Concert Band is devoted to the preparation and performance of traditional and contemporary literature suitable for a large concert ensemble. Additionally, members of the Concert Band critically relate and apply elements of performance to Instrumental Music Education. Original compositions and transcriptions of high artistic merit are explored.

The Concert Band is open to all musicians by audition. Auditions are held in the fall of each academic year (see above).

The ensemble is assisted by Kappa Kappa Psi, an honorary fraternity open to men and women enrolled in concert ensembles at the University.
